Concussion Protocol

Hockey WA is in the process of formally adopting the Hockey Australia Concussion Protocol which is based on guidelines developed by the Australian Institute of Sport in conjunction with Sports Medicine Australia.

Anyone with a suspected or actual concussion is not to:

•Resume training before 14 days from the date of suspected concussion (if free of symptoms at rest);

•Return to playing before a minimum of 21 days from the date of the suspected concussion.

From a venue perspective, in the absence of assessment and clearance by a qualified medical professional, any player with a concussion or suspected concussion must not return to play, training or activity on the same day. If in doubt, sit them out!
